The Wilen Group, the fastest growing direct mailer in the U.S., has completed its HIPAA Security Assessment across both its facilities. The company, which oversees Wilen New York, a direct marketing agency, and Wilen Direct, its production facility, engaged 360 Advanced, a full-service IT audit and compliance firm that specializes in integrated compliance solutions, to complete the assessment.
“The successful completion of the HIPAA Security Compliance Assessment demonstrates The Wilen Group’s commitment to create and maintain controls needed to ensure the quality and security of direct marketing services provided to their clients and prospects,” said Eric Ratcliffe, Director at 360 Advanced.
360 Advanced began the process with a rigorous audit to identify necessary remediations in order for The Wilen Group to become HIPAA compliant. Over a period of about six months, The Wilen Group developed additional steps to identify sensitive data and further isolate it, modified encryption, developed stricter controlled processes and increased security systems on the facilities. During that period, 360 Advanced engaged with The Wilen Group to ensure that they were meeting the HIPAA standards. At the end of the process, 360 Advanced confirmed the steps The Wilen Group had taken and issued a finding of HIPAA compliance.
To ensure continued compliance, in addition to The Wilen Group’s internal compliance officer’s ongoing evaluation, The Wilen Group will engage with 360 Advanced annually to ensure that its facilities and practices remain compliant.
“The Wilen Group is committed to being a leader in data security,” said Darrin Wilen, President. “Becoming HIPAA compliant allows us to bring our industry-leading, high-volume, data-driven, 4-color variable direct mail solutions to additional verticals.”
